Job summary

Stevenage Borough Council is seeking a Service Support Worker to manage a caseload of 15-20 clients across Hertfordshire, providing intensive support for substance misuse and offending. You will work with partners to tailor a support plan and determine contact outside of normal hours to meet individual needs.

To actively challenge issues and remove barriers, you will deliver practical and emotional support, signpost services, and represent SBC at internal and external meetings including

About The Role

As a representative of Stevenage Borough Council, you will manage a caseload of 15-20 clients across Hertfordshire, to provide an intensive support to address substance misuse and offending. Working co-operatively with partners to develop a support programme tailored to the individual client, agreeing contact dependant on clients’ needs, including outside of normal business hours

To actively challenge relevant issues and help remove the barriers that prevent people from tackling their substance misuse and changing their behaviours.

Provide practical and emotional support, applying the principles of effective casework when supporting clients and signpost clients for support and guidance to partner agencies.

To represent The No More Service and Stevenage Borough Council at internal and external meetings including Multi Agency Risk Management Meetings, Child Protection Conferences and Professional Meetings

About You

The successful candidate will have

  • Previous experience working intensively and assessing individuals and families with complex needs, taking a multi-agency approach.
  • Excellent communication skills, resilience and good judgement and problem-solving skills.
  • You will be able to work on your own initiative as well as part of a team, deal calmly and confidently with emotional situations and have the ability to understand the needs and perceptions of residents.
