Job summary

Action for Children in Ayrshire is seeking a Night Residential Support Worker to provide safety, stability and reassurance to young people overnight. You will monitor wellbeing, respond to incidents and maintain a calm, nurturing environment.

This permanent, full-time role (37 hours per week) includes night shifts in blocks of 2–3 consecutive nights and supports a 24-hour service. A Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare (or willingness to complete within two years) is required or supported by

Qualifications

• Experience working in a care setting is required.
• Willingness to complete Level 3 Diploma within two years.
• Ability to manage night shifts and maintain safety.

Responsibilities

• Lead nighttime care planning and risk management, conduct welfare checks and monitor wellbeing.
• Coordinate tasks and ensure clear handovers with daytime team; maintain records and reports.
• Support multiagency work and contribute to safeguarding discussions and court-related documentation.
• Use a solution-focused approach to manage overnight incidents and maintain a calm environment.
• Apply skills to meet changing needs of young people, ensuring safety and emotional support at night.
• Demonstrate safeguarding practice and empathy toward vulnerable care-experienced youths.
