Job summary

HG Recruitment in Bridgwater is seeking a Transport Clerk for night shifts (22:00–06:00, Sun–Thu) with a pay rate of £14.57 per hour. The role involves processing transport paperwork, updating drivers and customers, and supporting night-time operations.

You will use the Transport Management System, handle queries, ensure compliance with driver hours, and contribute to efficient planning. The position offers full training and progression within transport and logistics.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in transport, logistics, or administrative role (essential).
• Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
• Ability to work independently during night shifts.
• Good communication skills and calm under pressure.
• Flexible, reliable and punctual.
• Understanding of transport operations and driver hours regulations (essential).

Responsibilities

• Processing and updating transport paperwork, delivery notes.
• Monitoring vehicle movements and supporting night-time transport operations.
• Communicating with drivers regarding routes, delays and instructions.
• Updating transport management systems (TMS) accurately and in real time.
• Handling customer and internal queries professionally.
• Reporting issues such as delays, shortages, or vehicle problems to the Transport Manager.
• Ensuring compliance with company procedures, driver hours and transport legislation.
• General administrative duties to support the transport and planning teams.
