Job summary

Gist is recruiting a Night Transport Coordinator to join the Portbury Transport team on a permanent night shift, with the role currently based in Portbury and a planned move to Avonmouth in Summer 2027.

You'll coordinate drivers, monitor live transport activity, and support the Transport Shift Manager on shift, keeping the office running through the night. This role demands transport/logistics experience, strong organisation, and good IT skills, with a competitive salary and benefits package.

Qualifications

• Experience in a transport, logistics or distribution operation.
• Experience as Transport Coordinator, Transport Administrator or Transport Planner.
• Ability to communicate with drivers and allocate work.
• Supervisory or team‑lead experience is preferred.
• Excellent organisation and attention to detail under pressure.
• Good IT skills including Kronos and Microsoft Office.
• Knowledge of transport compliance and Operator Licence requirements is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Co-ordinate the night transport operation to dispatch vehicles and drivers safely and on time.
• Act as first point of contact for drivers, provide support and resolve issues.
• Brief and debrief drivers with accurate operational information.
• Monitor live routes and support service recovery as needed.
• Support the Shift Manager with day‑to‑day running of transport operations.
• Manage driver allocation and optimise resource use across the shift.
• Support return‑to‑work conversations and driver supervision.
• Maintain legal compliance including Operator Licence requirements and transport documentation.
• Handle payroll, Kronos exceptions, holidays and other transport office tasks.
