Job summary

Family Care Group in Oldham is recruiting a dedicated Waking Night Residential Childcare Worker to safeguard and support children with learning disabilities during the night. You will work as part of a therapeutic team, maintaining a calm, secure environment where young people feel protected and respected while they sleep.

Responsibilities include remaining awake during shifts, managing daily handovers, keeping clear logs, providing personal care per care plans, and supporting building security.

Qualifications

• Ideally have previous Residential Childcare experience.
• Experience with learning disabilities or mental health support desirable.
• Waking Night shifts (152 hours per month).
• Enhanced DBS certificate is required upon appointment.

Responsibilities

• Remain awake and vigilant for the duration of the shift to safeguard young people during the night.
• Undertake domestic duties identified during handover, including cooking and cleaning.
• Maintain a log of events and prepare a thorough handover for morning staff.
• Deliver personal care as guided by the young person’s care plan.
• Be responsible for the security of the building during the shift.
