Job description
Overview

About the Location: Once an eye hospital, this landmark Victorian building built in 1884, is located in the central business district of the city, close to the Jewellery Quarter and the popular Broad Street area. With world-class retail and cuisine, the city offers vibrant culture and excellent links for regional and international travellers.

Birmingham has 35 miles of canals, which is said to be more than Venice. They’re enjoyed by walkers, cyclists, and narrowboat owners and they are a reminder of a unique industrial history.

About The Role

Night Porter, Hotel du Vin

Role purpose: The Night Porter is instrumental in overseeing the running of the hotel from sundown to sunrise. This is a hands-on role managing guest expectations and ensuring the standards of the brand are maintained.

As guests sleep, the Nights team keep operations running smoothly. Your responsibilities include overseeing the Food & Beverage Department during the night, welcoming guests in a friendly and helpful manner, keeping public areas immaculate, cleaning public areas, and preparing meeting and event spaces for the next day.

You will assist guests with luggage, handle enquiries, and conduct nightly Health and Safety audits. You should be organized and an excellent communicator.

Experience: Experience in a similar role is beneficial; experience of night shift work is essential.

Hours & Contracts: We are open 7 days a week, 365 days a year and need people to work a range of shifts and days. We can offer flexibility if required. Busy periods are typically evenings and weekends; shift patterns and contracted hours can be discussed at interview.

Training & Career Progression: We offer nationally recognised apprenticeships alongside detailed brand training. Successful candidates can progress to Night Supervisory or Assistant Night Management roles.

Why join us: We aim to deliver standout guest experiences and support your career development.
