Job summary

Single Homeless Project in Islington is seeking a Night Concierge for Milton House. You will be the first point of contact at night, providing practical support and a calm, reassuring presence to residents rebuilding their lives.

Responsibilities include managing access, responding to emergencies, and carrying out essential safety checks to protect everyone in the service. Join SHP in a values-driven, anti-oppressive environment, with out-of-hours management support, a flexible 37.5 hour week

Qualifications

• A mature and non-judgemental attitude to working with a client group that may present challenging behaviour.
• A basic understanding of the often complex issues likely to be presented by the vulnerable people who use SHP services.
• The confidence to challenge appropriately, and the ability to use initiative and make reasoned and quick decisions within SHP’s policy and procedural framework.
• An understanding of Health and Safety at work and the likely issues to occur in a residential building.
• Good customer care skills, honesty, punctuality, integrity and ability to work alone without direct supervision.
• An ability to be self-servicing in the use of the computer to create notes and logs and to send and receive emails.

Responsibilities

• As a Night Concierge, you’ll be the first point of contact during the night, offering practical support and a calm, reassuring presence.
• You’ll manage access to our buildings and respond to emergencies, carrying out essential safety checks and reporting concerns.
• Your work will directly contribute to the wellbeing and security of every person in the service.
• You’ll be part of a wider team, with guidance from out-of-hours management, and you may supervise temporary staff.
• You’ll work the night shift pattern as described (10pm–08:15am) and uphold SHP values.
