Job description

Are people always telling you that you are the most calm and positive person that they know? Are you the type of person who is able to look behind what others could consider as challenging behaviours and see the real meaning of the communication which may be a cry of frustration at a world that doesn't listen?

What kind of service you ask? This service works with a wonderful group of people to identify options and the motivation to move forward. It's a supported housing service for people with a history of homelessness, but also helps people conquer issues like substance use and mental ill-health. We also responsible for the safety of everyone accessing the service. Our goal is to help people back on their feet with support from our team and other local partners.

At Turning Point, we support people across the UK with mental health issues. You will make a real difference to their lives as you work closely with them to help them achieve their potential. Turning Point has several well-established services within Staffordshire. You will form part of a wider supportive team within the region and there is the opportunity for growth in the future.

This role will be working 12 hour shifts, 3 days a week.

Role Responsibility

This role is about ensuring the security of the guests, and the site. You will also be supporting them, listening to them when they want to talk, helping to diffuse tense situations. Part of your role will also involve helping to keep the service clean.

We need someone resilient with a proactive attitude and a genuine desire to help people from all walks of life. We need someone who can listen and follow instructions precisely. You'll need to have an acute awareness of our surroundings and what is happening within the service and be able to report any concerns.

As a Night Concierge, you will be expected to engage with the guests who reside at the service on a nightly basis, keeping client records up to date, managing incidents, sharing concerns with the wider team to ensure continuity in service delivery, and contributing to daily handover meetings.

No matter how complex a person's needs, whether they've tried support services or not in the past, we can provide person-centered support that helps individuals decrease isolation, increase independence, learn new skills, integrate into the community, and make the most of every new opportunity.

You will have relevant lived experience through using health and social care services, which may relate to yourself or a loved one. Our ideal candidate will have the genuine desire to understand and provide appropriate support to people whose lives have not been straight forward and in many cases will have faced multiple traumas. You will have extensive history or knowledge of homelessness and rough sleeping and will have worked in services providing assistance to vulnerable people.

You will be motivated to empower people who often don't have the opportunity for their voice to be heard and be able to demonstrate passion, energy, enthusiasm, and empathy. You must be resourceful and innovative in your approach to working with individuals experiencing homelessness, and be confident and resilient, with the ability to work with on your own initiative and as part of a wider team.

Having good written and verbal communication skills and knowledge of IT.

As a leading health and social care provider with more than 300 locations across England, we take real pride in the services we offer.

We run all of our services on a not-for-profit basis; instead, we invest every penny back into our services and people. We never stop believing in change for the better, and we work constantly to improve the lives of the people we support.

What Benefits Will I Receive?

We know reward looks different to each person and so whether its ways to make your money go further, a culture supporting recognition and celebration, or opportunities to boost your career - we want to support you in every way we can with our total reward package.

You will get 31 days' paid holiday a year, increasing with each year of service up to 33 days. Plus the option to buy additional holidays and spread the cost.
