Job summary

Polytec Personnel Ltd in Ely seeks an experienced CNC Setter/Operator for the night shift. You will load, set up, and operate CNC machines, produce first-off components for inspection, and maintain quality by verifying against drawings.

Working 37.5 hours over 6pm–6:30am (Mon-Wed) on a permanent basis, with a 25% shift allowance and a competitive hourly rate of £15–£16 depending on experience.

Qualifications

• Experience operating Fanuc controls or similar CNC systems.
• Strong ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specs.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.

Responsibilities

• Load, set up, and operate CNC machines in accordance with production requirements.
• Manufacture first‑off components for inspection and approval before commencing full production.
• Maintain responsibility for quality control by recording and verifying components against engineering drawing specifications.
• Monitor machine performance throughout production to maximise efficiency and output.
• Identify and contribute to continuous improvement opportunities across manufacturing processes.
• Read, interpret, and work accurately from engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Carry out routine maintenance and basic servicing of equipment and machinery within your area of responsibility, in line with your skills and training.
