Job summary

Polytec Personnel Ltd is recruiting experienced CNC Milling Setter/Operators for our Ely-based precision engineering client. The roles are available on a four-day day shift or a three-night shift, offering compressed weeks and flexible start and finish times.

Hours are 37.5 per week with shifts: Day shift 7:30am-5:15pm Thu 7:30-4:45, Night shift 6:00pm-6:30am Mon-Wed. Flexible start times subject to business needs to aid work-life balance.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience setting and operating CNC milling machines in a manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of Fanuc controls or similar CNC control systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical documentation.
  • Experience machining a variety of materials such as stainless steel, aluminium, mild steel or brass is desirable.
  • Excellent attention to detail with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Set up, adjust and operate CNC milling machines to manufacture precision engineered components.
  • Load and run CNC programmes, ensuring machines are prepared for production.
  • Produce first-off components for inspection and approval before full production.
  • Carry out in-process and final quality inspections and record results.
  • Monitor machine performance to maximise productivity and minimise downtime.
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings and work instructions.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and basic equipment checks.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance processes, quality and efficiency.

Duration: Permanent

Hours: 37.5 hours over four days (Monday-Thursday) or 37.5 hours over three nights (Monday-Wednesday) both with flexible start and finish times*

Salary: £15 - £16 per hour dependent on experience with a 25% uplift for night shift

Polytec are looking for experienced CNC Milling Setter/Operators to join our Ely based precision engineering client. Opportunities are available on both a four-day day shift and a three-night night shift, offering compressed working weeks and flexible start and finish times.

Hours: 37.5 hours worked over a compressed working week:

  • Day Shift: Monday to Wednesday, 7:30am - 5:15pm, and Thursday, 7:30am - 4:45pm (15-minute lunch break each day)
  • Night Shift: Monday to Wednesday, 6:00pm - 6:30am

Flexible start and finish times are available to support work-life balance, subject to business needs.

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives to enhance manufacturing processes, quality and efficiency
