Job summary

Polytec Personnel Ltd in Ely is seeking an experienced CNC Programmer to join our client base in a high-mix, low-volume setting. You will program, set and operate 3-axis and 5-axis CNC milling machines, support prototypes and production components, and drive continuous improvement with engineers and production teams.

Responsibilities

• Program, set and operate 3-axis and 5-axis CNC milling machines.

• Use simulation software to verify machining programs prior to manufacture.

• Inspect components using metrology equipment to ensure compliance with engineering drawings.
• Support preventative maintenance activities and machine optimisation.
• Participate in Lean and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Maintain high standards of safety, quality and workplace organisation (5S).
• Share best practice and collaborate with colleagues across multiple departments.

Location: Ely (CB6) Duration: Permanent Hours: 8am until 4:30pm (Monday to Friday) Salary: Competitive Job Reference: 36271

Polytec is looking for an experienced CNC Programmer to join our client based in Ely. Working closely with RandD and production departments, you will be responsible for programming, setting and operating CNC machinery to produce high-precision components in a high-mix, low-volume environment. You will also play a key role in process improvements, continuous improvement initiatives and supporting the introduction of new products into manufacturing.

Responsibilities

• Program, set and operate 3-axis and 5-axis CNC milling machines
• Support machining activities for prototype and production components
• Use simulation software to verify machining programs prior to manufacture
• Work with engineers to improve component manufacturability and production efficiency
• Inspect components using metrology equipment to ensure compliance with engineering drawings
• Support preventative maintenance activities and machine optimisation
• Participate in Lean and continuous improvement initiatives
• Maintain high standards of safety, quality and workplace organisation (5S)

Requirements

• Apprenticeship trained or equivalent machining experience
• Proven experience within a precision machining environment
• Strong background in 3-axis and 5-axis CNC milling
• Ability to interpret engineering drawings and select appropriate machining methods
• Experience with Fanuc and/or Haas controls
• Knowledge of precision measurement and inspection techniques
• CAD/CAM software experience (such as SolidWorks, Mastercam or similar)
• Experience of sliding head lathes would be advantageous
• Wire EDM/Wire Erosion experience desirable but not essential
• Ability to work to tight tolerances and high levels of precision
