Job summary

Polytec Personnel Ltd in Ely is seeking an experienced CNC Setter/Operator to join the day shift team. You will load, set up and operate CNC machines to meet production requirements and ensure first-off components meet drawings.

Training on Doosan Lynx may be provided; applicants should have experience with Fanuc controls and be able to read complex technical drawings, with a focus on quality and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience operating Fanuc CNC controls or similar CNC systems.
• Strong ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and specifications.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality work.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong problem-solving skills to resolve machining or production issues.

Responsibilities

• Load, set up and operate CNC machines to meet production requirements.
• Operate Doosan Lynx CNC machine (training available).
• Manufacture first-off components for inspection against drawings.
• Record and verify components against engineering drawings and specs.
• Monitor machine performance to maximise efficiency and output.
• Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in manufacturing processes.
• Read, interpret and work from engineering drawings and technical documentation.
• Carry out routine maintenance and basic servicing of equipment within your area.

Job Type: Permanent

Hours: 37.5 hours, 7:30am - 5:15pm Monday to Wednesday with a 4:45pm finish on Thursday (Day shift)

Salary: £15 - £16ph depending on experience

• Previous experience operating a Doosan Lynx CNC machine is advantageous but not essential, as training can be provided
• Manufacture first-off components for inspection and approval before commencing full production
• Maintain responsibility for quality control by recording and verifying components against engineering drawing specifications
• Monitor machine performance throughout production to maximise efficiency and output
• Identify and contribute to continuous improvement opportunities across manufacturing processes
• Read, interpret, and work accurately from engineering drawings and technical documentation
• Carry out routine maintenance and basic servicing of equipment and machinery within your area of responsibility, in line with your skills and training
