Job summary

Sandwell & West Birmingham NHS Trust is seeking Security Officers (Band 3) to protect people and property across its sites in Birmingham. The role requires 4 x 12-hour shifts (4 on, 4 off) including weekends and public holidays, and involves patrolling, CCTV monitoring, and responding to incidents.

Applicants should be smart, calm under pressure, and able to work in a fast-paced environment. SIA licenses and a full driving licence are highly desirable.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills are required.
• IT literate with ability to file reports using computer software.
• Full driving licence is essential.
• Continued Professional Development in a Security related field (ACT) is expected.

Responsibilities

• Patrol hospital premises and monitor CCTV from a Control room.
• Control access to restricted areas and respond to alarms and emergencies.
• Defuse aggression and assist in restraining violent individuals when needed.
• Maintain patient, staff and visitor safety and liaise with staff and external agencies.
