Responsibilities
- Participate in the efficient day-to-day running of the pharmacy department, assisting the Principal or Senior Technician when necessary
- Conduct daily stock level checks, including expiration dates, and report any discrepancies
- Order and requisition stock as required from the Pharmacy Store
- Dispense medications for in-patient, discharge, and outpatient needs using the Pharmacy Computer System, adhering to departmental policies
- Engage in the dispensing process for clinical trials and maintain pertinent documentation
- Counsel patients and carers about their medications to promote safe and effective use
- Aim to obtain Accredited Checking Technician status and perform final accuracy checks of prescriptions
- Pursue accreditation for drug history and POD checking to support medicine management on wards
- Routinely check stock expiry dates to ensure appropriate storage conditions and maintain a detailed log
- Prepare and manage computerised lists for stock issues for relevant clients
- Deputise for the Senior Technician when they are unavailable
- Support training and supervision of pre-registration trainee pharmacy technicians and other learners
- Maintain a clean, organised workplace and ensure accurate data entry in relevant systems
- Identify and report risks or incidents, contributing to a safe working environment
- Actively participate in departmental meetings and contribute to the evolution of pharmaceutical services
Qualifications
- GPhC Registration
- Previous experience in a UK-based Pharmacy setting
