Job summary

NHS Professionals is seeking a Booking Clerk for Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. Based at Heavitree Hospital, EX1 2ED, you will handle patient bookings, manage high call volumes, and use multiple NHS systems.

The role runs 37.5 hours weekly, Monday to Friday with shifts such as 8:00–16:00, 9:00–17:00 or 8:30–16:30. Duration is 2 months, with on-site work in Exeter.

Qualifications

• Proficient with EPIC-WON and appointment systems.
• Strong customer service and basic admin skills.
• Excellent verbal communication and telephone manners.
• Familiar with NHS IT systems and confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Handle large volumes of calls using Open-scape system.
• Answer calls promptly in a polite, helpful manner.
• Provide information and support to patients with empathy.
• Coordinate with reception, slot admins and GP surgeries.
• Update patient records accurately on the system.
• Escalate slot capacity or issues to team leader.
• Assist in training and onboarding new staff.
• Provide cover during staff absence as required.
