Job summary

Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust is seeking a Credit Controller to support the Financial Accountant in delivering income collection and debt recovery objectives. The role involves regular interaction with NHS SBS and external bodies to ensure timely payments and accurate ledger entries.

You will manage debt reporting, liaison with internal teams, and contribute to continuous improvement of procedures while maintaining high professional standards.

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of health service financial management and information analysis.
• High-level business qualification and/or NHS work experience.
• Basic accounting skills and forecasting abilities.
• Evidence of communication skills with non-financial managers on financial issues.
• Studying towards CCAB/CIMA qualification or equivalent experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist the Financial Accountant in recovering sales income from NHS and non-NHS organisations, health Insurance Companies, individuals and others.
• Collaborate with NHS SBS as the outsourced debt management contractor.
• Chase debt and log debtor notes on SBS system.
• Recommend actions to external debt collection agencies and review portals.
• Liaise with overseas, pharmacy trading and private patients teams to maximise recovery.
