Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust is seeking a proactive Credit Controller to support the Financial Accountant in debt collection and income management. The role focuses on timely recovery of income from NHS and non‑NHS organisations, with coordination across SBS and internal teams.

You will develop knowledge of the Oracle system and participate in debt management meetings to improve processes, reporting, and accuracy of the accounting ledger, with opportunities to contribute to

Qualifications

• Basic knowledge of health service financial management and information analysis.
• Relevanthighlevelbusiness qualification and/or equivalent NHS work experience.
• Basic accounting skills and forecasting skills.
• Evidence of communication skills with non-financial managers on financial issues.
• Studying towards CCAB/CIMA qualification or equivalent experience.

Responsabilités

• Assisting the Financial Accountant in recovering sales income from NHS and non‑NHS organisations, Health Insurance Companies, individuals and others.
• Collaborating with NHS Shared Business Services (SBS) as the outsourced Debt Management Contractor.
• Chasing debt and adding notes onto the SBS system.
• Providing instructions to External Debt Collection companies and reviewing portals.
• Liaising with Overseas, Pharmacy Trading and Private Patients Teams to maximise recovery.
• Liaising with SBS, customers and Billing Team to resolve invoice queries.
• Chasing debt and logging debtor notes onto the Oracle system with SBS.
• Producing reports on debt management.
• Assisting in the Agreement of Balances process and related income statements.
