Position Details

This is a non-union full-time salaried position, grade 11, with an expected hiring range of $97,224 to $108,162 annually. For benefits information, please refer to our Benefits Table.

Basic Function

The Senior Systems Administrator/Site Reliability Engineer contributes to the success of Brookfield Zoo Chicago by designing and improving infrastructure and systems, ensuring reliability, scalability, and performance to support departmental innovation and our mission.

Primary Job Duties

• Manage and operate BZC's infrastructure and enterprise software platforms, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Design and implement automation processes to reduce manual intervention.
• Collaborate with IT teams to build and maintain scalable, resilient infrastructure and systems.
• Develop monitoring and alerting systems for proactive incident management.
• Observe and analyze performance metrics post-deployment to drive improvements.
• Participate in capacity planning and demand forecasting.
• Implement change management best practices.
• Engage in continuous learning about industry trends and technologies.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Position Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology, or equivalent experience.
• 3-5 years' experience in a similar role.
• Experience with automation, monitoring tools, cloud platforms, and network infrastructure.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
• Ability to work with diverse audiences and hold a valid driver's license.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in IT operations, database administration, or related fields.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity, ITIL, certifications like Microsoft Certified, etc.

Additional Information

This role requires nonstandard hours, including holidays and weekends, with on-call availability. Reporting of illegal activities and security concerns is mandatory.
