We also give back to our communities through our Collectively program which incorporates matched-funding, paid volunteering time and charitable donations.

About the Opportunity

  • We are looking for an enthusiastic Network Support Engineer experienced in working on and with sensitive / protected systems. The candidate will work within a small multi-disciplined on-site support team and take primary responsibility for the network aspects of the local system.
  • The system undergoes regular refreshes to improve performance, add new services and avoid obsolescence, providing the opportunity for the candidate to maintain their skills and knowledge against the latest generation of Cisco LAN & WAN equipment.
  • Specific responsibilities include:
  • Leading the local support for the Network Infrastructure within the assigned geographical area of responsibility.
  • Maintaining network documentation associated with the site.
  • Assisting the local multi-disciplined support team in wider system support activities.
  • Supporting the wider network engineering team with the management of the global network design including:
    • Providing impact assessments to RFC's relating to obsolescence, patch and update, expansion or in support of the delivery of new services.
    • Implementing RFCs.
    • Providing recommendations for improvement through the formal RFC process.
  • This role requires the successful candidate to be on-site 5 days a week.
Due to the classification of this system, there is no opportunity for remote working and the support team work flexibly to maintain a constant presence during working hours. There are no out-of-hours SLA's associated with this system.

Here's What You'll Need
  • A team player - this is a small team that requires all the members to work collaboratively to ensure the system is supporting the delivery of this critical capability to users.
  • CCNA (R&S) level experience in the troubleshooting and configuration of Cisco LAN/WAN components.
  • Demonstrable experience of configuring and troubleshooting Firewalls (preferably Cisco Firepower and Palo Alto).

  • Familiar with the CISCO TAC Process
  • Demonstrate experience in the management configuration and control of network management systems.
  • Familiar with formal change control concepts.
  • Full Drivers Licence.
  • Ability to Support other teams at other sites throughout the UK when (infrequently) needed.
