Job summary

Slough Council is offering a 3-6 month temporary Neighbourhood Officer role, based on Hybrid Working (3 days in the office - SL1 2EJ).

The successful candidate will manage housing services within a defined area, handle breaches of tenancy, void properties, and tenancy support visits, while delivering improvement plans in consultation with residents and ensuring compliance with regulations.

Qualifications

• Comprehensive housing management service in the assigned geographic area.
• Experience of breaches of tenancy/lease, estate management, antisocial behaviour and tenancy support visits.
• Knowledge of relevant legislation and regulatory requirements.

Responsibilities

• Provide a comprehensive housing management service within a specified geographic area, handling breaches of tenancy/lease, estate management (including garage sites), antisocial behaviour, caretaking and tenancy support visits.
• Oversee void properties and work with colleagues to end tenancies promptly and minimise void rent loss.
• Monitor introductory and flexible tenancies in line with policy and legislation, supporting residents at risk of legal action.
• Deliver against an improvement plan for the area in consultation with residents and align with corporate objectives.
• Ensure housing management and environmental services meet statutory and best practice standards.

I am currently representing Slough Council who are offering an initial temporary contract for a period of 3-6 months with a view to be extended or offered a permanent position for the right candidate at a rate which is negotiable dependent upon experience

We are looking for a Neighbourhood Officer this role will be based at: Hybrid Working 3 days in office - SL1 2EJ

The right candidate will:

• To provide a comprehensive housing management service within a specified geographic area to our customers and neighbourhoods dealing with breaches of tenancy/lease, estate management/monitoring (including garage sites), anti-social behaviour, caretaking, delivery of communal services, inspections, audit, and tenancy support visits.
• Have oversight of all void properties and their progress within specified geographical area, work in partnership with internal and external colleagues to ensure tenancies are ended promptly and void rent loss is minimised.
• Closely monitor introductory and flexible tenancies in line with policies and procedures and current legislation. Working in partnership with the rent recovery team to support those residents at risk of legal action.
• Deliver against an agreed improvement plan for the assigned area in consultation with residents and help deliver the corporate objectives. The plan should reflect the needs of the area with reference to the profile of residents and the physical characteristics.
• Ensure the housing management and environmental services provided to residents are coordinated and of an excellent standard and conform to relevant statutory and regulatory requirements and best practice.

We require the following:

• Significant experience of working in housing related role.
• Knowledge of legal enforcement proceedings via the County Court.
