Job summary

WCHG is seeking a proactive Community Safety Officer in the Greater Manchester area. You will handle anti‑social behaviour cases, support residents and work with police and local authorities to resolve issues.

The role emphasizes safeguarding, risk assessment and clear communication, with opportunities to visit residents and balance enforcement with supportive actions. A full UK driving licence is required.

Qualifications

  • Experience in community safety, housing management or ASB.
  • Strong communication skills for handling challenging conversations.
  • Ability to work independently with a varied caseload and make sound decisions.
  • Good understanding of safeguarding, risk management and health & safety in the community.
  • Ability to collaborate with colleagues and external partners.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail, including accurate record‑keeping and reporting.
  • Flexible approach with willingness to work occasional evenings.
  • Full UK driving licence (or ability to travel independently).
  • The successful applicant will be required to complete a basic DBS check.

Responsibilities

  • Managing community safety cases, including reports of anti‑social behaviour, neighbour disputes and environmental concerns.
  • Working directly with residents to investigate issues, agree actions and provide updates.
  • Using a range of interventions to resolve problems, including warnings, agreements and referrals.
  • Carrying out visits, interviews and risk assessments with safeguarding in mind.
  • Working with partners such as police and local authorities to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Keeping accurate case records, preparing reports and supporting performance monitoring.
