Insignis is seeking an experienced Multi-Trade Operative for social housing properties, primarily across Portsmouth and surrounding areas with some travel to London. The role offers up to £20/hour (CIS) and 40 hours per week, with overtime possible. A company van and fuel card are provided, and the position can be temp-to-perm.

You will tackle reactive repairs, void refurbishments, and general maintenance across contracts, delivering high-quality workmanship and efficient first-time fixes.

Qualifications

• Proven track record as a Multi-Trader in social housing, local authority, or residential maintenance.
• Competent across multiple primary trades (carpentry, plumbing, tiling, painting/decorating, patching).
• Full UK driving licence (essential for van usage) and CSCS card; asbestos awareness a bonus.

Responsibilities

• Carry out reactive repairs, planned maintenance, and void works in social housing properties.
• Perform multi-trade tasks: 2nd fix carpentry, basic plumbing, tiling, patch plastering, painting, and handyman repairs.

Location: Portsmouth & Surrounding Areas (Mobile / Field-Based with occasional travel up to London)

Pay Rate: Up to £20.00 per hour (CIS)

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced and reliable Multi-Trade Operative to join our busy property maintenance team. Operating primarily across Portsmouth and surrounding areas, with occasional travel into London, you will be delivering high-quality reactive maintenance, repairs, and void property refurbishments across social housing contracts.

This position offers excellent earning potential with regular overtime available for tradespeople looking to max out their hours.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out day-to-day reactive repairs, planned maintenance, and void works within social housing properties.
• Execute multi-trade tasks including 2nd fix carpentry, basic plumbing, tiling, patch plastering, painting, and general handyman repairs.
• Diagnose faults and deliver clean, efficient, first-time fixes to high standards.
• Complete daily job sheets and maintain clear communication with contract managers and residents.
• Drive to various sites across Portsmouth, surrounding areas, and London while maintaining a clean, stocked company vehicle.

Requirements & Qualifications

Experience: Proven track record working as a Multi-Trader within social housing, local authority, or residential maintenance sectors.

Core Skills: Competent across multiple primary trades (Carpentry, Plumbing, Tiling, Painting/Decorating, Patching).

Licence: Full UK Driving Licence (essential for van usage).

Compliance: Relevant CSCS Card, Asbestos Awareness, and basic hand/power tools.

Attributes: Self-motivated, punctual, customer-focused, and comfortable with travel when required.
