Job summary

Tarmac Trading Limited is seeking a Multi Skilled Rail Operative for Barrow upon Soar, to support Mountsorrel Quarry in Leicestershire. This night shift role covers 5:30pm-3:00am or 7:30pm-5:00am to align with production schedules.

You will work with a friendly team and contribute to efficient rail movement and plant operations. Training is provided for Rail Operations, with opportunities to gain qualifications.

Qualifications

• GCSEs or equivalent required.
• NVQ/QCF Level 2 in rail operations or equivalent preferred.
• Background in rail operations preferred.
• Computer literacy required.
• Mechanical knowledge advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Train loading on time and in full.
• Shunting operations and locomotive driving.
• Rail, rail track and plant inspections.
• Operate on-site mobile and fixed plant to support operations.
• Contribute to rail movement and related activities.
• Support production teams to resolve delays.

Job description

Multi Skilled Rail Operative to join our friendly team based at Barrow upon Soar; fully supporting our Mountsorrel Quarry, Quorn, near to Loughborough in Leicestershire which is the largest Granite Quarry's in Europe. This role is commutable from Loughborough, Leicester, Nottingham, Coalville, Shepshed, Syston, Melton Mowbray, Derby, Swadlincote, Oakham and the surrounding areas. Please note this is a NIGHT SHIFT position where shifts will be either 5:30pm - 3:00amor 7:30pm - 5:00am to meet with our planned production and rail schedules. Main Responsibilities The successful candidate for the role of Multi Skilled Rail Operative will have a wide range of responsibilities including (not exhaustive):

• Train loading on time and in full
• Shunting Operations and Locomotive Driving
• Rail, Rail Track and Plant inspections
• Operating Mobile and Fixed Plant on site in support of the wider business requirements
• Key involvement in all rail movement and activities
• Assist with any failures in the delivery of the operation with the support of our operations and production teams
• Exceptional time management is essential
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of the business you're working for by identifying and taking ownership of opportunities for improvement to the processes you use, the services you will provide and the values you can add to the business

• NVQ/QCF level 2 in rail operations or industry equivalent - would prove highly beneficial; however training to achieve this qualification will be given to the successful applicant if required
• Background in Rail Operations - Shunting / Driving preferred
• Computer literate
• Mechanical knowledge
• Experience of working within a busy environment is advantageous as is the ability to work with multiple colleagues and suppliers
