Commuting from Loughborough, Leicester and nearby areas is common. Ideal candidates may have NVQ/QCF level 2 in rail operations or equivalent, GCSEs, and a background in rail operations.

We are currently looking for a Multi Skilled Rail Operative to join our friendly team based at Barrow upon Soar; fully supporting our Mountsorrel Quarry, Quorn, near to Loughborough in Leicestershire which is the largest Granite Quarry’s in Europe.
This role is commutable from Loughborough, Leicester, Nottingham, Coalville, Shepshed, Syston, Melton Mowbray, Derby, Swadlincote, Oakham and the surrounding areas.

Please note this is a NIGHT SHIFT position where shifts will be either 5:30pm – 3:00am or 7:30pm - 5:00am to meet with our planned production and rail schedules.
The successful candidate for the role of Multi Skilled Rail Operative will have a wide range of responsibilities including (not exhaustive):Train loading on time and in fullShunting Operations and Locomotive DrivingRail, Rail Track and Plant inspectionsOperating Mobile and Fixed Plant on site in support of the wider business requirementsKey involvement in all rail movement and activitiesAssist with any failures in the delivery of the operation with the support of our operations and production teamsExceptional time management is essentialContribute to the continuous improvement of the business you're working for by identifying and taking ownership of opportunities for improvement to the processes you use, the services you will provide and the values you can add to the business.
The ideal candidate for our role of Multi Skilled Rail Operative will be able to demonstrate, or be willing to complete training for: Secondary school education, GCSE’s etc or equivalentNVQ/QCF level 2 in rail operations or industry equivalent – would prove highly beneficial; although training to achieve this qualification will be given to the successful applicant if requiredBackground in Rail Operations - Shunting / Driving preferredComputer literateMechanical knowledgeExperience of working within a busy environment is advantageous as is the ability to work with multiple colleagues and suppliers.
