Job summary

Tarmac Trading Limited is seeking a Multi Skilled Operative for the Mountsorrel Asphalt Plant on night shift. The role covers asphalt mixing, RAP production, weighbridge duties and plant operation with a focus on safety and quality.

You will work in a supportive team, gaining hands-on experience and opportunities for development in a busy plant environment near Loughborough. Previous plant experience is beneficial but not essential; attitude and willingness to learn matter most.

Qualifications

• Experience or interest in plant or mobile machinery operations.
• Shovel licence is desirable but not essential.
• Excavator licence is essential.

Responsibilities

• Mixing asphalt to specification.
• Production of RAP to specification.
• Collaborate to deliver quality materials and on-time deliveries.
• Weighbridge operations.
• Operate mobile plant including loading shovel.
• Support Supervisors with daily/weekly production targets.
• Carry out inspections and remedial actions.
• Assist with planned and reactive plant maintenance.
• Maintain high housekeeping standards.
• Promote and operate to HSE and quality standards.

Multi Skilled Operative (Nightshift) – Asphalt PlantMountsorrel

Location: Mountsorrel Asphalt Plant, near Loughborough (Leicestershire).

Working hours: Rotating shift pattern 5pm - 3am, Monday - Friday plus every other Saturday.

We're recruiting a Multi Skilled Operative (Nightshift) to join our Mountsorrel Asphalt Plant, ideally located for candidates commuting from Loughborough, Leicester, Melton Mowbray and surrounding areas. This role offers real variety, structured training, and development opportunities within a busy operational environment. Previous asphalt or plant experience is beneficial but not essential - we're more interested in your attitude, work ethic and willingness to learn.

What You'll Be Doing

• Mixing asphalt to specification
• Production of RAP to specification
• Working collaboratively to deliver quality materials and on-time customer deliveries
• Weighbridge operations
• Operating mobile plant including loading shovel
• Supporting Supervisors with daily and weekly production targets
• Carrying out inspections, identifying defects and implementing remedial actions
• Assisting with planned and reactive plant maintenance
• Ensuring housekeeping standards are consistently high
• Actively promoting and operating to Health, Safety, Environmental and Quality standards

What We're Looking For

• Experience or interest in plant or mobile machinery operations
• Shovel licence (desirable but not essential)
• Excavator Licence (essential)
• A flexible, team-focused approach
• Motivation, good time keeping and strong work ethic
• Clear communication skills and confidence to raise issues when needed
• IT literacy
• Full UK Driving Licence
