Job summary

Lincolnshire Housing Partnership (LHP) is seeking a skilled multi-skilled plasterer to join our Repairs team in Grimsby. This permanent role offers stability, a 40-hour week, and a salary of £34,809 plus standby and call out payments.

You will repair and plaster in domestic properties, carry out patching, larger repairs over multiple visits, and work with a range of trades. You’ll have a company van, fuel card, branded workwear and tools to do the job with pride, plus a wellbeing package and

Qualifications

• Strong plastering experience essential.
• Experience in other trades (joinery, plumbing, bricklaying, painting & decorating) desirable.
• Minimum 2 years’ experience in repairs of domestic properties.
• Health and safety awareness in domestic properties (asbestos, working around customers, working at heights & electrics).
• Ability to use PDA/iPad and interpret handheld job descriptions.

Responsibilities

• Visit customers' homes to repair damaged walls and ceilings.
• Carry out patch plastering, skimming and prep for decoration.
• Complete larger plastering repairs that may require multiple visits.
• Remove damaged plaster and prepare surfaces for reinstatement.
• Undertake minor repairs such as basic carpentry, tiling, or decorating touch-ups where appropriate.
• Keep customers informed and update repair records.

You’ll be joining our dedicated Repairs team, responsible for carrying out reactive repairs in our customers' homes.

We're seeking a skilled tradesperson with strong plastering expertise and proven experience working in domestic properties.

What will a typical week look like?

A typical week could be as follows

• You’d start each day by completing a van check and review your jobs on your PDA/tablet and planning your route.
• Visit customers' homes to repair damaged walls and ceilings caused by leaks, electrical works, or general wear and tear.
• Carry out patch plastering, skimming, and preparation work to leave surfaces ready for decoration.
• Complete larger plastering repairs that may require multiple visits.
• Remove damaged plaster and prepare surfaces for reinstatement.
• Attend a variety of other responsive repair appointments, such as fixing doors, repairing kitchen units, replacing locks or carrying out minor plumbing repairs.
• Use your multi-skilled experience to undertake minor repairs such as basic carpentry, tiling, or decorating touch-ups where appropriate.
• Keep customers informed throughout the day and update job records as work is completed.
• Speak with customers to understand their needs and provide advice on maintaining their home where appropriate.
• Collect materials and ensure van stock is maintained.
• Work closely with the Repairs Planning Team to ensure appointments are completed efficiently.
• Take part in team briefings, toolbox talks or training sessions to keep skills and knowledge up to date

• Ensure work areas are left clean, safe, and tidy.
• Deliver high-quality repairs across a range of trade areas.
• Provide excellent customer service and build positive relationships with residents.
• Work safely and follow all health and safety procedures.
• Use technology to manage jobs and update repair records.
• Manage your workload effectively while meeting performance targets.
• Identify opportunities to improve customers' homes and report any concerns.
• Support colleagues and contribute to a positive team environment.

What Skills and Experience will you need?

• Strong experience in Plasteringis essential
• Experience in other trades is highly desirable, such as, joinery, plumbing, bricklaying, painting and decorating
• A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the repairs of domestic properties
• An awareness of health and safety considerations within a domestic property (i.e. Asbestos, working around customers, working at heights & electrics)
• The ability to use PDA/iPad and other electronic communication devices
• The ability to interpret a job description from a handheld device and carry out those tasks in a timely manner
• The ability to communicate on regular basis with team leaders and planners to ensure work is carried out and completed to the highest possible standard
• Must have a full valid, clean driving license
