Job summary

Places for People is seeking a qualified plasterer to carry out repairs across our housing stock. You’ll use a company van, work 08:00-16:30, and join a team focused on quality and safety.

Permanent full-time role with 35 days annual leave, pension with matched contributions, a joining bonus, sick pay, and opportunities for overtime. You’ll be based within the PE postcode area, covering local properties and common areas.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 or City and Guilds in Plastering.
• Experience as a plasterer, ideally within social housing or domestic properties.
• Full UK driving licence.

A £3,000 joining bonus is available for this role. The bonus will be paid in two instalments: £1500 upon joining Places for People and a further £1500 upon successful completion of your probation period, subject to the terms of the scheme.

What you'll be doing

• Carrying out plastering repairs across domestic properties and communal areas
• Completing general plastering work in line with specifications and supervisor instructions
• Conducting pre and post inspections and recording outcomes
• Working to specifications and ensuring compliance with health and safety requirements
• Collaborating with supervisors, schedulers, and wider teams to meet deadlines
• Recording work activity and completing required documentation
• Supporting apprentices and contributing to team performance and KPIs

What your day looks like

• A structured schedule covering repairs and maintenance work
• Travelling between jobs in your company van
• Working independently or with a team of other tradespeople
• Engaging directly with Customers in their homes
• Completing work efficiently while maintaining quality and compliance standards

Where you'll work

You will be working across:

• Occupied homes
• Empty (void) properties
• Communal areas within housing schemes
• Environments involving vulnerable Customers

Essential Criteria (you need to meet all of these to be shortlisted)

• NVQ Level 2 or City and Guilds in Plastering
• Experience working as a Plasterer, ideally within social housing or domestic properties
• Full UK driving licence
• Due to the area this patch covers, you will need to be based within the PE postcode

Nice to have (not essential)

• Experience supervising or mentoring apprentices
• Additional Level 2 trade qualification
