Job summary

Tarmac Trading Limited, at Ravelrig Quarry in Midlothian, seeks a hands-on Multi Skilled Operative to support safe daily running of the site and operate fixed and mobile plant to deliver high quality materials to customers.

You will join a multi-skilled team, support production targets, maintain plant safety standards, and assist with routine inspections and basic maintenance while upholding health, safety, environment and quality compliance.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of PlantShovel License – desirable.
• Good timekeeping – flexible as to the Units requirements.
• Good communicationskills – bringing problems to the attention of Line Management.
• Previous experience in mobile Plant operations.
• Full UK Driving Licence.
• IT Literate.

Responsibilities

• Operate fixed and mobile plant including loading shovel and dump trucks.
• Carry weighbridge duties.
• Support daily and weekly production targets.
• Ensure plant operates safely, efficiently and remains available.
• Perform routine plant inspections and report or act on defects.
• Assist with basic plant maintenance.
• Maintain high standards of health, safety, environmental and quality compliance.
• Keep site housekeeping to a high standard.
• Communicate issues clearly to the Supervisor and wider team.

Are you hands‑on, safety-focused and looking for a practical role where no two days are the same? Tarmac is recruiting a Multi Skilled Operative to join the team at Ravelrig Quarry in Midlothian, easily accessible from Edinburgh and surrounding areas. Working as part of a multi-skilled site team, you’ll support the safe and efficient day‑to‑day running of the quarry, operating both fixed and mobile plant to help deliver high-quality materials to our customers.
