Based in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire
Permanent, full-time, 37 hours per week
Salary: £35,327 - £39,252
Are you an experienced tradesperson who can turn their hand to more than one trade? We’re looking for a Multi-Skilled Operative to join our Property Services team.
This is a varied, hands-on role working in our customers’ homes and properties across the local area. One job might be carpentry, the next could be plumbing, repairing a door or window, tiling, plastering or decorating. You’ll diagnose what’s wrong, work out the best way to fix it and get the job done properly.
We’re big on getting repairs sorted first time wherever possible. You’ll have your own van, tools and materials and will manage your van stock, so you’ve got what you need for the jobs ahead. You’ll also get involved in emergency repairs when needed and keep simple records of the work and materials used.
Just as importantly, we’re looking for someone who takes pride in their work, can use their initiative and is happy to get stuck in. You’ll be working in people’s homes, so being friendly, respectful and able to explain what you’re doing is important too.
This is a physical job, so you’ll need to be comfortable lifting and moving tools and materials, climbing ladders and working at height or in confined spaces when needed.
You’ll also need a basic DBS check, which we’ll arrange and pay for.
We’re B3Living, a social business providing affordable homes across southeast Hertfordshire. Put simply, we want our customers to have a good, safe home, and our trade teams play a big part in making that happen.
The closing date for this vacancy is 11 October 2026.
We are a Disability Confident employer, which means that we offer an interview to a fair and proportionate number of disabled applicants who meet the minimum selection criteria for the job.
Other organisations may call this role Multi-Trade Operative, Multi-Skilled Tradesperson, Repairs Operative, Maintenance Operative, Property Maintenance Operative or Multi-Trade Technician.
We’re committed to building an inclusive workplace where equity, diversity and inclusion are part of our culture. We strongly welcome applications from underrepresented groups, including LGBTQIA+ people, Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic communities, applicants with disabilities and people under 30.
Don’t worry if you don’t tick absolutely every box. If you’ve got solid trade experience, can work across different types of repairs and think you’d be a good fit, we’d still like to hear from you.
All our vacancies are open to flexible working arrangements, something we’re really proud of. What’s possible will depend on the role and the needs of our customers and the business.
