Job summary

A leading dairy processing group in Northern Ireland is seeking a Multi-skilled Maintenance Technician for the Ballyrashane site. The successful candidate will provide planned and emergency maintenance to ensure the smooth running of the plant. Qualifications include being ONC/OND qualified in Engineering with experience in electrical and mechanical troubleshooting. The role requires a flexible attitude toward work hours and participation in a rotating shift pattern including nights and weekends.

Multi-skilled Maintenance Technician - Ballyrashane

Lakeland Dairies Co-operative Society Limited (The Group) is the second largest dairy processor on the island of Ireland. The business is complex and ambitious with a milk supply pool of 2 billion litres of milk, drawn from over 3,200 family farms across 16 counties.

With the most modern dairy manufacturing facilities in 8 locations on a cross-border basis, the Group supplies to a broad customer base including some of the world's foremost 'blue chip' companies across the dairy food ingredients, foodservice and consumer food channels on a domestic Ireland, UK, European and global basis. Internationally we export some 240 different products to over 100 countries worldwide.

The Group's Agribusiness Division (Lakeland Agri) operates a state-of-the-art Animal Feed Manufacturing Facility and is a leading and innovative provider of the highest quality feeds and agricultural inputs to dairy, beef and sheep farmers across the north and south of Ireland.

Applications are invited for the above position at our Ballyrashane site.

The Role

As part of our team of multi-skilled engineering team, the successful candidate will provide essential planned and emergency maintenance on site to ensure the smooth and efficient running of our plant 365 days a year. The company operates a rotating shift pattern (including nights and weekends).

Key responsibilities will include (not limited to):
  • Support engineering initiatives to maximise production line efficiencies.
  • Proactively participate in fault‑finding and problem‑solving activities within production and services including electrical and mechanical process troubleshooting.
  • Complete mechanical and electrical repairs to high‑speed food processing, handling and packaging equipment.
  • Provide technical support for the plant facilities and services including compressed air, steam, refrigeration systems and effluent plant.
  • Participate in preventative maintenance programmes and ensure all work is carried out in line with manufacturers' guidelines and complies with company and legal requirements.
  • Participate as required on the planning and installation of new projects or equipment. This may include research work, input of ideas, liaising with external parties including suppliers as well as installation of equipment.
  • Participate in training (which may include travel to other sites or overseas) on new or specialist equipment.
The Person

Our team are seeking an individual that possesses:

  • A relevant qualification such as ONC/OND in Engineering, C&G or equivalent qualified, plus Engineering apprenticeship time served.
  • The ability to read and interpret specifications and diagrams and apply this in a working environment.
  • The ability to demonstrate experience of electrical and mechanical fault‑finding / problem solving.
  • Good working knowledge of current electrical standards and requirements.
  • Computer literacy with Microsoft Office packages.
  • The ability to work under pressure in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Excellent communication & interpersonal skills.
  • Flexible attitude towards work & hours and willing to work continental shift pattern.
