Job summary

Great Places Housing Association is seeking a skilled joiner to carry out joinery and repairs across our housing stock in Manchester. You will repair UPVC windows/doors, replace double glazed units, and overhaul kitchens, delivering high-quality repairs with first-time fixes.

You will work with PDA/mobile tech, complete training, maintain safety, and build good relationships with customers. A full UK driving licence and NVQ Level 2 in Joinery are essential.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 2 in Joinery or equivalent qualification/experience
  • Full UK manual driving licence
  • Experience working in domestic properties
  • Ability to carry out basic plumbing, tiling, patch plastering to support first-time fix
  • Strong customer-focused approach and willingness to learn and support colleagues

Responsibilities

  • Carry out joinery and repairs including restoring UPVC windows/doors, replacing double glazed units, and overhauling kitchens
  • Deliver high-quality repairs with first-time fixes through accurate diagnosis and multi-trade working
  • Attend training, toolbox talks and e-learning modules
  • Communicate professionally and empathetically with customers, colleagues and local stakeholders
  • Work safely and ensure homes are left clean and secure
  • Use PDA/mobile tech to receive, update and manage repair jobs
  • Produce accurate records including before-and-after photos and detailed job notes

Job description

  • Carrying out all aspects of joinery, including repairing UPVC windows, repairing UPVC/composite doors, replacing double glazed units, and overhauling kitchens
  • Delivering high-quality repairs and maintenance work, achieving first-time fixes through accurate diagnosis and effective multi-trade working
  • Attending and completing all required training, toolbox talks, and E-learning modules
  • Communicating professionally and empathetically with customers, colleagues, and local stakeholders
  • Carrying out work safely and professionally, ensuring customers' homes are left clean and secure
  • Using PDA/mobile technology to receive, update, and manage repair jobs efficiently
  • Producing accurate records, including before-and-after photographs and detailed job notes
    Key essentials: Full UK manual driving licence, NVQ level 2 in joinery or equivalent in experience, NVQ Level 2 in Joinery (or equivalent qualification/experience)
  • Full UK manual driving licence
  • Experience working in domestic properties, ideally within housing (desirable but not essential)
  • Ability to carry out basic plumbing, tiling, patch plastering to support first time fix and value for money
  • A customer-focused approach with pride in delivering high-quality work

If you are under 21 but with 2 years driving experience with a full UK driving licence you would be required to complete an on-line driver monitoring assessment and additional in vehicle assessment prior to starting your role funded by Great Places.
