Job summary

BAM UK & Ireland is recruiting a janitor to join our FM segment at East Renfrewshire Schools. You will be based at one school, but contracted to be based at multiple sites through East Renfrewshire to cover janitorial holidays and sickness as required.

This role carries PVG Certification and a 52-week, full-time schedule. In this role you will provide porterage, maintenance, waste management and security services on school sites and premises, with on-call duties and occasional overtime.

Qualifications

• Janitorial/site-keeping experience in a school or similar environment.
• Numeracy and literacy GCSE or equivalent.
• Good IT skills and willingness to develop ICT knowledge.
• Knowledge of health and safety procedures and COSHH.
• Ability to work without direct supervision and as part of a team.
• Able to relate well to children and adults.

Responsibilities

• Ensure security of the site and lock/unlock buildings.
• Use reports and logs to log tasks andTake notes as per help desk protocols.
• Coordinate on-site deliveries and room let duties.
• Participate in on-call rota and occasional overtime.
• Carry out maintenance tasks and minor repairs as required.
• Perform cleaning duties and waste management across sites.
• Monitor and liaise with contractors and safety procedures.
• Assist in safety audits and risk assessments.
