Job summary

Mitie Cleaning & Hygiene Services in the United Kingdom is seeking a highly experienced Security Officer to support multiple sites within a 50‑mile radius. You will help protect people and property, respond to incidents, and maintain a visible, professional security presence across locations.

The role requires 5+ years of security experience, an SIA licence, a valid UK driving licence, and willingness to travel.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years' proven Security Officer experience.
• Valid SIA Door Supervisor or Security Guarding Licence.
• Full UK driving licence with no more than 6 penalty points.
• Access to own reliable vehicle.
• Willing to travel up to 50 miles one way.
• Flexibility to work days, nights, weekends and bank holidays.
• Willing to accept short-notice deployments.
• Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
• Ability to work independently and make sound decisions under pressure.
• Good IT skills and comfortable with electronic reporting systems.
• Reliable, punctual, and professional.

Responsibilities

• Protect customer property, people and assets per AI instructions and updates.
• Meet or exceed KPIs/SLA for the customer, ensuring contract retention.
• Undertake ongoing training for continuous self-development.
• Ensure compliance with policies, legal and regulatory requirements.
• Complete tasks on site as defined in Assignment Instructions (AI's).
• Review AI changes and suggest amendments to improve service.
• Maintain required front-line licences (Security Guarding or Door Supervision) and CCTV PSS SIA Licence.
• Comply with safety requirements and follow instructions.
• Work systematically and in an orderly manner.
• Report incidents with accurate notebooks and escalate as needed.
• Call emergency services/Communication Centre to report incidents.
