Job summary

Enhance Academy Trust is recruiting a flexible Estates caretaker to cover Wakefield, Kirklees and Barnsley academies, ensuring buildings remain open, safe and functional for pupils and staff.

You will travel between sites, handle routine repairs, small works and daily checks, and support site teams with opening and closing. The role requires a full UK driving licence, reliability, good health and safety awareness, and a practical, hands-on approach.

Qualifications

• Experience in caretaking, site or building maintenance with hands-on skills across trades.
• Full UK driving licence and access to own vehicle for travel between academies.
• Sound health and safety awareness including risk assessment, COSHH, and working at height.
• Ability to assess unfamiliar sites quickly and act without lengthy handovers.

Responsibilities

• Travel between Wakefield, Kirklees and Barnsley academies to cover caretaking absence.
• Carry out repairs and small works, and support daily site checks.
• Open and lock up facilities across sites as required, with flexible hours.
• Maintain confidentiality and handle keys, alarm codes and access responsibly.
