Outcomes First Group in Suffolk seeks a Motor Vehicle Mechanics Instructor/Teacher to deliver practical and theory-based mechanics lessons. You will work with the Headteacher to create engaging experiences that help pupils develop skills, confidence and independence, while aligning with the school’s curriculum and goals.

Role involves teaching alongside other subjects, tailoring approaches to pupil needs, and contributing to curriculum development.

Qualifications

• UK QTS (desirable) — industry experience warmly welcomed.
• UK driving licence is essential.

• Plan, deliver, and evaluate an engaging and effective Automotive Mechanics curriculum.

• Deliver motivating, well-structured lessons with high expectations for all learners.
• Provide personalised and differentiated learning to meet a wide range of needs and abilities.
• Maintain high expectations while building fair, respectful, and trusting relationships with pupils.
• Use assessment effectively to track progress, address misconceptions, and inform future planning.
• Embed literacy, numeracy, and ICT skills into teaching and wider professional practice.

Job Title: Motor Vehicle Mechanics Instructor / Teacher

Hours: 37.5 hours per week | Monday to Friday | 8.15am - 3.45pm

Salary: Up to £42,000 per annum (depending on experience/qualifications, not pro rata)

Contract: Permanent | Term Time Only

Start: October 2026

About the Role

As a Motor Vehicle Mechanics Instructor/Teacher, you’ll play a key role in bringing learning to life, helping pupils develop valuable practical skills, confidence and independence alongside their academic learning. Working closely with the Headteacher, you’ll contribute to delivering high-quality teaching and creating engaging learning experiences that motivate pupils and help them achieve their potential.

You’ll teach mechanics alongside other subjects as required, adapting your approach to meet the individual needs, interests and abilities of our pupils. Through practical activities, real-world experiences and engaging lessons, you’ll help young people discover their strengths, develop new skills and build a sense of achievement.

You’ll also have the opportunity to contribute to the wider development of the school’s curriculum, taking on additional responsibilities as agreed with the Head of Education.
