Job summary

Dyson Institute is seeking a Lead/Associate Principal Automation & Verification Engineer to join the Motor Test Systems Team in a hands-on, high-precision role. You will build and enhance automated verification systems for motor R&D, mentor engineers and drive cross-disciplinary improvements across software, hardware and instrumentation.

The role emphasizes LabVIEW leadership, Python/C/C++ development and the delivery of robust test solutions that improve laboratory capabilities and verification

Qualifications

• Degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, Software Engineering, Mechatronics or a related discipline.
• Extensive experience developing automated test systems in an engineering environment.
• Expert-level LabVIEW development experience.
• Strong experience developing software using Python and C/C++.
• Excellent understanding of automation, control systems and data acquisition.
• Experience delivering complex engineering projects from concept through implementation.
• Practical understanding of electronics, instrumentation and fault-finding.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Automation & Test Systems Design, develop and commission automated verification systems and test equipment.
• Develop software for test automation, instrumentation, data acquisition and control applications.
• Improve existing test systems to increase capability, reliability, efficiency and maintainability.
• Lead the technical delivery of complex automation and capability improvement projects.
• Investigate and resolve challenging technical issues across software, hardware and instrumentation domains.
• Support the definition and implementation of effective verification methodologies.
• Support test execution as required
