Job summary

The RAC is seeking Mobile Mechanics to join its Service, Maintenance & Repair (SMR) division. You will work on pre-booked appointments, delivering planned servicing and repairs directly to members' vehicles at their driveways or workplaces.

Based in the Northampton cluster covering nearby towns, you’ll use mobile diagnostics and workshop‑level tools, with a fully equipped RAC van and full support. The role offers a 40-hour week, Monday to Saturday options, and a competitive base salary with

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years' experience.
• 5+ years' experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Routine servicing and vehicle diagnostics using mobile equipment.
• In-depth repairs you'd normally complete in a workshop.
• Member advice and recommendations based on inspection.
• Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards.
• Work through a scheduled list of jobs with time, tools and support.

Skills

Experience as a Vehicle Technician/Meh

Full UK driving licence <6 points

Education
