Job summary

RAC is recruiting a Mobile Vehicle Technician for the SMR division. You’ll operate on planned appointments in the Chigwell area, with a fully equipped RAC van and a 40-hour week.

The role includes overtime and potential earnings up to £57,000 per year, with a base salary of £45,370 and London Weighting where applicable. You’ll work a structured schedule, avoiding reactive callouts, and contribute to high-quality servicing and diagnostics.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance with 2+ years’ experience is required.
• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic is preferred.
• A full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points is essential.

Responsibilities

• Service vehicles on a planned schedule with no emergency callouts.
• Diagnose using mobile equipment and carry out in-depth repairs.
• Provide member advice and recommendations after inspection.
• Perform vehicle safety checks in line with RAC standards.
