Job summary

The RAC is expanding its SMR division, offering a Mobile Vehicle Technician role focused on planned, pre-booked work rather than roadside emergencies.

You’ll diagnose, service and repair vehicles at customers’ driveways or workplaces, with tools and support provided. The role includes overtime options, a fully equipped RAC van, and structured career development within a national team.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent) with 2+ years’ experience.
• 5+ years’ experience as a Vehicle Technician/Mechanic.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Routine servicing.
• Diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment.
• In-depth repairs you’d normally complete in a workshop.
• Member advice and recommendations based on inspection.
• Vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards.
