Job summary

RAC is recruiting a Mobile Vehicle Technician for its SMR Division. The role operates on a schedule of pre-booked jobs, not emergency calls, delivering planned servicing, diagnostics with advanced mobile equipment and in‑depth repairs at members’ homes or workplaces.

You’ll use your skills to assess vehicle safety, provide informed recommendations, and complete items to RAC standards. The position offers a base salary of £40,170 with OTE up to £52,000, a 40-hour week, and overtime opportunities.

Qualifications

• NVQ Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent).
• 2+ years’ experience in vehicle maintenance or similar role.
• Full UK driving licence with fewer than 6 points.

Responsibilities

• Perform routine servicing and diagnostics using advanced mobile equipment.
• Undertake in‑depth repairs that would normally be done in a workshop.
• Provide member advice and recommendations based on inspection results.
• Conduct vehicle safety checks aligned to RAC standards.
• Work from a pre‑booked schedule with clear time allocations.

5+ years’ experience as Vehicle Tech/6

Full UK driving licence

Education
