Job summary

Octane Recruitment Ltd is sourcing a Mobile Vehicle Technician to service, maintain and repair vehicles at customers’ homes or workplaces, supporting a new specialist division for a national breakdown company.

You’ll work 40 hours per week across 5 days (Mon-Sat, 8am–8pm), with flexible optional overtime and a route-based schedule. A UK driving licence is essential, and salary starts at £40,170 with OTE up to £52,000 per year.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, ideally Level 3 (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Must have a minimum of 2 years’ post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles, in a workshop or mobile role.
• Ability to work independently, make decisions on the go, and follow procedures.
• Must have a full UK driving licence – max 6 points, no bans.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and repairing vehicles (including EVs) at the customer’s location (driveway, office car park).
• Perform routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems (engine, transmission, brake, suspension, electrical).
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve issues.
• Communicate with customers about vehicle issues and repair recommendations.
• Handle payments through card transactions.
• Keep up to date with automotive technology and repair techniques.
• Keep accurate records of all work and parts used.
