Octane Recruitment is seeking a Mobile Vehicle Technician for a dynamic, client-facing role delivering servicing and repair work at customer locations across Chester and surrounding areas.

The position offers a basic salary of £40,170 with a bonus up to £6,000, plus a guaranteed overtime option, a company van, fuel card, tools, and a pension. OTE up to £52,000 with progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• Must have a minimum of a Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair (Level 3 preferred).
• Must have a minimum 2 years post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles.
• Ability to work independently and follow procedures.
• Customer-focused approach required.
• Full UK driving licence - max 6 points, no bans.

Responsibilities

• Service and repair vehicles at customer locations (driveway, office car park, etc.).
• Perform routine maintenance: oil changes, tires, brakes.
• Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software; communicate findings to customers.
• Handle payments via card transactions and keep accurate records.

Job description

Mobile Vehicle Technician providing servicing, maintenance and repair, via prebooked appointments, at customers home address or place of work. This is a new and specialist division for the number one national breakdown company in the UK, with over 15 million members.
Must have right to work in the UK status.
Location: Chester
Pay / salary: £40,170 Basic + Bonus (Up to £6,000) + (£28.96ph) + Company Van + Fuel Card + Tools Provided, OTE: Up to £52,000 (Guaranteed overtime option to increase your basic salary)
Job type: Permanent / Full time role
Shift and schedule for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role: Monday – Friday, 8:30am – 5pm, 1 in 4 Saturdays, 40 hours per week
1 day of overtime per month = £3,000 additional per year; 2 days of overtime per month = £5,000 additional per year, completely optional – more flexibility, more reward.

Job Responsibilities for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

• Servicing and repairing vehicles (including EVs) customer selected location e.g. driveway, office car park.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems, including engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve complex issues.
• Communicate with customers about vehicle issues and repair recommendations.
• Payment handling through card transactions.
• Keep up to date with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques.
• Keep accurate records of all work performed and parts used.

What you'll need to be considered for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

• Must have a minimum of a Level 2 in light vehicle maintenance and repair, ideally Level 3 but will consider level 2. (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent)
• Must have a minimum 2-year post-qualification hands on experience with vehicles. Either in a workshop or mobile vehicle type role.
• The ability to work independently, make decisions on the go, and follow procedures.

• Must have a full UK driving licence - max 6 points, no bans
