Job summary

Octane Recruitment Limited is recruiting a Mobile Vehicle Technician to service, maintain, and repair vehicles at customers' homes or workplaces across the UK. The role is home-based with 40 hours per week, Monday to Saturday, including occasional overtime opportunities.

Total earnings include base pay plus OTE up to £52,000, with a robust benefits package. The role requires Level 2 (ideally Level 3) qualifications, 2+ years of hands-on experience, and a valid UK driving licence with up to 6

Qualifications

• Must have Level 2 or ideally Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualifications.
• Minimum of 2 years post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles.
• Ability to work independently and follow procedures; customer-focused.
• Full UK driving licence with max 6 points; no bans.

Responsibilities

• Service and repair vehicles at customers' locations (driveways, office car parks).
• Perform routine maintenance such as oil changes, tires, brakes.
• Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, brakes, suspension, electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve issues.
• Communicate clearly with customers about repairs and recommendations.
• Handle payments via card transactions.
• Keep up with automotive tech and repair techniques.
• Maintain accurate records of work and parts used.

Job description

Mobile Vehicle Technician providing servicing, maintenance and repairs via pre-booked appointments at customers home addresses or places of work. This is a new and specialist division for the number one national breakdown company in the UK, with over 15 million members.

Must have the right to work in the UK.

Location: Trowbridge

Pay / salary: £40,170 OTE: Up to £52,000

Job type: Permanent / full-time role

Shift and schedule for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

Home-based, working 40 hours per week across 5 days (Monday to Saturday), 8am 8pm, working 1 in 4 Saturdays. 1 day of overtime per month = £3,000 additional per year; 2 days of overtime per month = £5,000 additional per year, completely optional more flexibility, more reward.

Job Responsibilities for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

• Servicing and repairing vehicles (including EVs) at the customers selected location, e.g. driveway or office car park.
• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems, including engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve complex issues.
• Communicate with customers about vehicle issues and repair recommendations.
• Payment handling through card transactions.
• Keep up to date with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques.
• Keep accurate records of all work performed and parts used.

What youll need to be considered for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

• Must have a minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, or ideally a Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Must have a minimum of 2 years post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles, either in a workshop or a mobile vehicle role.
• The ability to work independently, make decisions on the go, and follow procedures.
• A customer-focused approach.
• Must have a full UK driving licence max 6 points, no bans.
