Job summary

Octane Recruitment Limited is seeking a Mobile Vehicle Technician for a new specialist division within a national breakdown company in the Bournemouth region. You will service, maintain and repair vehicles at customers’ homes or workplaces, including EVs, working 40 hours per week across 5 days (Mon–Sat) with occasional overtime.

The role offers a base salary of £40,170 with an OTE up to £52,000, and is home-based with 1 in 4 Saturdays.

Qualifications

• Must have a Level 2 or preferably Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification.
• Minimum 2 years post-qualification hands-on experience with vehicles.
• Full UK driving licence (max 6 points) and ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Servicing and repairing vehicles (including EVs) at customers' locations.
• Carry out routine maintenance tasks such as oil changes, tire rotations and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair engine, transmission, brake, suspension and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve problems.
• Communicate repair recommendations to customers and handle payments.
• Keep records of work performed and parts used.
• Stay updated with latest automotive technology and repair techniques.

Job description

Mobile Vehicle Technician providing servicing, maintenance and repairs via pre-booked appointments at customers home addresses or places of work. This is a new and specialist division for the number one national breakdown company in the UK, with over 15 million members.

Must have the right to work in the UK.

Pay / salary: £40,170 OTE: Up to £52,000

Job type: Permanent / full-time role

Shift and schedule for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

Home-based, working 40 hours per week across 5 days (Monday to Saturday), 8am 8pm, working 1 in 4 Saturdays.

1 day of overtime per month = £3,000 additional per year; 2 days of overtime per month = £5,000 additional per year, completely optional more flexibility, more reward.

• Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
• Diagnose and repair vehicle problems, including engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical issues.
• Use diagnostic tools and software to identify and resolve complex issues.
• Communicate with customers about vehicle issues and repair recommendations.
• Payment handling through card transactions.
• Keep up to date with the latest automotive technology and repair techniques.
• Keep accurate records of all work performed and parts used.

What you'll need to be considered for the Mobile Vehicle Technician role

• Must have a minimum Level 2 qualification in light vehicle maintenance and repair, or ideally a Level 3 light vehicle maintenance and repair qualification (City & Guilds, IMI, NVQ, or equivalent).
• Must have a minimum of 2 years post-qualification hands‑on experience with vehicles, either in a workshop or a mobile vehicle role.
• The ability to work independently, make decisions on the go, and follow procedures.
• A customer‑focused approach.
• Must have a full UK driving licence max 6 points, no bans.
