Job summary

OCS UK & Ireland is seeking a Retail Area Support Officer to help maintain a safe environment across multiple sites in the UK. You will deter theft, monitor CCTV, patrol stores, and respond to incidents with professionalism and customer-focused service.

The role is mobile, requiring flexibility to cover varied shifts, travel between sites, and adhere to company policies and legal requirements. Right to work in the UK and an SIA licence are essential.

Qualifications

• Right to work in the UK.
• Valid SIA Licence – Door Supervisor or Security Guarding.
• Strong observational skills and attention to detail.
• Proven ability to manage challenging situations professionally.
• Excellent communication skills – verbal and written.
• Proactive, reliable and professional approach to safety.
• Flexibility to work across multiple locations, travel between sites.
• Willingness to work varied shifts including evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a strong, visible security presence to deter theft and risks.
• Conduct regular patrols across store premises.
• Monitor CCTV and security systems for suspicious activity.
• Carry out searches in line with policy and law.
• Respond promptly to alarms and incidents; escalate when needed.
• Complete accurate incident and observation reports.
• Collaborate with store teams to address security concerns.
• Provide a professional, approachable presence for customers and staff.
• Assist with directions, queries and general support.
• Calmly de-escalate confrontational situations.
• Adhere to site procedures, policies and legal requirements.
• Support the wider security team and undertake additional duties.
