Job summary

Biffa Waste Services is seeking a Multi Skilled Operative in Oldbury to operate mobile plant, perform housekeeping and basic maintenance, and ensure safe plant operation in line with site licenses and PPC permits.

You will maintain records, assist with site logistics, and support management in daily site operations, with a 45-hour week from Monday to Friday.

Qualifications

• Experience operating forklift trucks.
• Experience with front-end bucket loaders.
• Experience with 360-degree excavators (tracked/wheeled).
• Experience with mobile grab equipment.

Responsibilities

• Operate Fork Lift Trucks, Front end Bucket loader and 360 excavators to unload/load vehicles, stockpile materials, feed the process plant, store finished products, and assist with housekeeping.
• Carry out daily maintenance and record keeping for mobile plant and plant equipment.
• Carry out housekeeping activities in all areas of the site.
• Carry out basic maintenance and cleaning on fixed process plant under supervision.
• Carry out daily operations on site as directed by site management.
• Carry out regular inspections of site infrastructure.
• Control vehicle and pedestrian traffic in internal areas.
• Liaise with BWS and external hauliers for timely dispatch of materials.

Multi Skilled Operative - Oldbury

£13.41 per hour

Working Pattern: 45 hours per week Mon-Fri - 06:00-16:00

A quick look at the role

The role holder, reporting directly to the Supervisor will be responsible for the operation of mobile plant, housekeeping activities, basic maintenance and cleaning of fixed process plant, associated record keeping, in compliance with site licences/PPC Permits and health and safety legislation.

Your core responsibilities

• Operation of Fork Lift Trucks, Front end Bucket loader and 360 excavators to unload and load vehicles, stockpile materials, feed the process plant, store finished products, load outgoing vehicles; carry out housekeeping and maintenance activities and any other tasks required.
• Carry out daily maintenance and record keeping for mobile plant and plant equipment.
• Carry out housekeeping activities in all areas of the site.
• Carry out basic maintenance and cleaning on fixed process plant under the direction of Supervisor and Ops Manager.
• Carry out daily operations on site as directed by site management.
• Carry our regular inspections of site infrastructure.
• Control vehicle and pedestrian traffic in all internal areas.
• Liaise with BWS and external hauliers to ensure timely dispatch of materials from site.
