Job summary

Biffa Waste Services in Rotherham is seeking a Multi Skilled Operator to load and sort waste using mobile plant machinery and to ensure compliance with environmental permits and municipal contracts.

The role involves assisting with MRF plant blockages and cleaning, following strict QHSE policies, and contributing to audits and continuous improvement while maintaining stock accuracy and safety standards. Overtime is paid at 1.5x.

Qualifications

• Mobile plant experience required (FLT, Telehandler, loading shovel, etc.).
• Knowledge of MRF operations.
• Willingness to obtain Level 2 City & Guilds in Sustainable Waste Management.
• Good understanding of health, safety and environmental compliance.
• Good communication skills at all levels.

Responsibilities

• Load and sort waste using mobile plant equipment.
• Assist with MRF plant blockages and cleaning.
• Follow QHSE policies and report near misses and incidents.
• Participate in audits, checks and continuous improvement.
• Manage stock reporting for contract and non-contract waste.
• Adhere to changes in company standards and legislation.
• Provide light maintenance of equipment.
• Support site supervisor in maintenance reviews and KPI actions.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping.

Job description

Multi Skilled Operator – Rotherham (Wath Upon Dearne).

Salary: £31,324.80 per annum

Mon-Fri week 1 - 05:30-14:30 and week 2 - 14:00-23:00

Overtime paid at 1.5 times.

Your primary function in this role is to load and sort waste using mobile plant machinery, ensuring compliance with the site environmental permit and municipal contract.

Your key responsibilities:

• Assist with the MRF Plant blockages while ensuring compliance with Health and safety rules and regulations.
• Assist with MRF plant cleaning when needed.
• Work in accordance with QHSE policies, including the reporting of close calls & incidents
• Involvement in best practice and continuous improvement, undertaking regular site audits/checks
• Stock control & accurate reporting of contract & non contract waste
• Comply with changes to company standards and legislation
• Providing light maintenance of equipment
• Assist site supervisor in reviewing maintenance activities, cost control, health & safety, behavioural safety observations, KPI’s and implementing necessary remedial actions in the event of variance
• Ensure the highest level of housekeeping is maintained

• Full UK car driving license
