Job summary

Biffa is hiring a Multi Skilled Operative for our Oldbury site. The role involves operating Fork Lift Trucks, a Front End Loader and a 360 Excavator to unload vehicles, stockpile materials and feed the process plant.

You will also maintain mobile plant equipment and keep accurate records, with a focus on safety and housekeeping across the site. Working pattern is Monday to Friday, 06:00–16:00, 45 hours per week, at £13.41 per hour.

Qualifications

• Experience operating industrial equipment such as forklifts, loaders or excavators.
• Basic maintenance and record-keeping for mobile plant.
• Ability to work to site restrictions and health & safety requirements.

Responsibilities

• Operate Fork Lift Trucks, Front end Loader and 360 excavators to unload/load vehicles and manage stock.
• Carry out daily maintenance and record keeping for mobile plant and equipment.
• Maintain site housekeeping across all areas and support fixed plant cleaning.
• Perform routine inspections of site infrastructure as directed by management.
• Coordinate with drivers and hauliers to ensure timely dispatch of materials.

Working Pattern: 45 hours per week Mon-Fri - 06:00-16:00

A quick look at the role

The role holder, reporting directly to the Supervisor will be responsible for the operation of mobile plant, housekeeping activities, basic maintenance and cleaning of fixed process plant, associated record keeping, in compliance with site licences/PPC Permits and health and safety legislation.

Your core responsibilities

• Operation of Fork Lift Trucks, Front end Bucket loader and 360 excavators to unload and load vehicles, stockpile materials, feed the process plant, store finished products, load outgoing vehicles; carry out housekeeping and maintenance activities and any other tasks required.
• Carry out daily maintenance and record keeping for mobile plant and plant equipment.
• Carry out housekeeping activities in all areas of the site.
• Carry out basic maintenance and cleaning on fixed process plant under the direction of Supervisor and Ops Manager.
• Carry out daily operations on site as directed by site management.
• Carry our regular inspections of site infrastructure.
• Control vehicle and pedestrian traffic in all internal areas.
• Liaise with BWS and external hauliers to ensure timely dispatch of materials from site.
