Job summary

Biffa in Rotherham is hiring a Multi Skilled Operator to load and sort waste with mobile plant, ensuring compliance with the site permit and municipal contract. The role runs Mon-Fri with a two-week rotation and overtime paid at 1.5x.

The ideal candidate has mobile plant experience and knowledge of MRF operations, with a full UK driving licence. A Level 2 City & Guilds in Sustainable Waste Management is encouraged for progression.

Qualifications

• Mobile plant experience (e.g. FLT, Telehandler, loading shovel).
• Knowledge of MRF operations and processes.
• Good understanding of health, safety & environmental compliance.
• Ability to communicate at all levels within the company and externally.
• Full UK driving licence is essential.

Responsibilities

• Assist with loading and sorting waste using mobile plant on site.
• Assist with MRF plant blockages and plant cleaning.
• Maintain compliance with Health and Safety rules and environmental policies.
• Participate in audits, checks and continuous improvement activities.
• Maintain stock reporting for contract and non-contract waste.
• Adhere to changes in company standards and legislation.
• Provide light maintenance of equipment.
• Assist site supervisor in maintenance reviews, cost control, safety observations and actioning variances.
• Maintain high standards of housekeeping.

Job description

Multi Skilled Operator – Rotherham (Wath Upon Dearne).

Salary: £31,324.80 per annum

Mon-Fri week 1 - 05:30-14:30 and week 2 - 14:00-23:00

Overtime paid at 1.5 times.

Your primary function in this role is to load and sort waste using mobile plant machinery, ensuring compliance with the site environmental permit and municipal contract.

Your key responsibilities:

• Assist with the MRF Plant blockages while ensuring compliance with Health and safety rules and regulations.
• Assist with MRF plant cleaning when needed.
• Work in accordance with QHSE policies, including the reporting of close calls & incidents
• Involvement in best practice and continuous improvement, undertaking regular site audits/checks
• Stock control & accurate reporting of contract & non contract waste
• Comply with changes to company standards and legislation
• Providing light maintenance of equipment
• Assist site supervisor in reviewing maintenance activities, cost control, health & safety, behavioural safety observations, KPI’s and implementing necessary remedial actions in the event of variance
• Ensure the highest level of housekeeping is maintained
