Plant and Equipment Hire Business is seeking a Mobile Plant Engineer to cover Southampton and surrounding areas. You will service, diagnose faults and repair construction plant at customer sites and depots, ensuring equipment is safe, reliable and ready for hire.

The ideal candidate will have strong mechanical fault-finding and hydraulic/electrical knowledge, a full UK driving licence, and an NVQ Level 2/3 in Plant Maintenance or equivalent.

Qualifications

• Experience with servicing and repairing construction plant.
• NVQ Level 2/3 in Plant Maintenance or equivalent is advantageous.
• Strong mechanical, hydraulic and electrical fault-finding knowledge.

Responsabilités

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on plant and construction equipment.

The Opportunity

We are working with an established plant and equipment hire business looking for an experienced Mobile Plant Engineer to join their team, covering Southampton and the surrounding areas.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled Plant Engineer, Plant Fitter or Field Service Engineer with experience maintaining and repairing construction equipment. You will be responsible for servicing machinery, diagnosing faults and carrying out repairs at customer sites and company depots, helping to ensure equipment remains safe, reliable and ready for hire.

The role would suit someone with strong mechanical and hydraulic knowledge who enjoys a varied workload and working independently in a field-based environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out servicing, maintenance and repairs on a range of plant and construction equipment.

• Attend breakdowns at customer sites and company depots.

• Diagnose and rectify mechanical, hydraulic and electrical faults.

• Carry out preventative maintenance and routine inspections to minimise equipment downtime.

• Repair and replace components, ensuring machinery is returned to a safe and operational condition.

• Complete equipment inspections and identify any defects requiring further attention.

• Ensure all repairs and servicing are completed in accordance with manufacturer specifications and company procedures.

• Complete service reports, inspection sheets and job documentation accurately.

• Liaise with customers and depot teams to provide updates on repairs and equipment condition.

• Manage daily workloads and prioritise jobs effectively across the designated area.

• Maintain company tools, equipment and service vehicle in a safe and serviceable condition.

• Work in accordance with health and safety procedures at all times.

The Ideal Candidate

• Previous experience as a Plant Engineer, Plant Fitter, Mobile Plant Engineer or Field Service Engineer.

• Strong mechanical fault-finding and diagnostic skills.

• Good working knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems.

• Experience maintaining and repairing construction plant or similar equipment.

• Ability to work independently and manage a mobile workload.

• A practical, customer-focused approach with good communication skills.

• Relevant engineering qualifications, such as an NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 in Plant Maintenance or an equivalent qualification, would be advantageous.

• Full UK driving licence.

• Salary of £38,000 – £41,000 per annum.
